Welcome Back Citizens!

First thing I have to do is apologize to you all. While the reasons are very personal & very private, I have been absent from the server for many weeks and this has caused a stall in many things I do for the community and above all else, it has shown me that there are some things I need to put in place to ensure this doesn’t happen again for you guys.

So with that I’m sorry.

Now with that out of the way let me give you a belated welcome to 2023! I know we are near the end of February as this post goes live, but still I hope your 2023 has been ace so far!

In Star Citizen lore this time of year is marked by Travelers Day;

Traveler’s Day a celebration of the metaphorical beginning of a new journey. The devout usually meet at a church or gathering place and go on a symbolic pilgrimage through the night to a new destination.

Which was part of the theme of the competition. This caused a little confusion among the entrants but ultimately this was a good thing because it meant that people were reading the rules… well some people at least.

That brings me to a point I now have to make. It is vital that if you wish to join the competition as a contestant, you read and abide by the rules. They are at the top of the channel and also pinned.

A Naked month – means that your screenshots can NOT be altered or edited in anyway… If your screenshot has been altered or edited and then posted into the competition for the month, in a month that is a Naked month, that screenshot will be disqualified.

A Dressed month – means that your screenshot can have some light alterations or editing. Be careful here though, very heavy handed alterations and edits will also get disqualified. “Light” editing, with enthesis on the light.

1 screenshot to be entered per week – You can drop just 1 screenshot into the channel each week. If you enter more than one, then all of them get disqualified.

Theme – There is usually at least one theme to each month. February’s themes are “Romance / Red Festival”. January’s themes was “New/Traveler’s Day/User Preference” now for the record, you do NOT need to take a screenshot that meets all of the themes for the month or any if you want. There may be just one theme for you to follow, or five themes for you to follow. If you manage to get a snap of something and it has one or all of the themes in the month that’s great, same as if you take one that has none.

However, the judges have a set number of points, that they can only put to a screenshot based on the way that screenshot follows the theme of the month…. and points, in this case is what determines the winner. If I need to say more because you still don’t understand, I will book a convention center in L.A. later this year and hold a seminar so that we all learn together the rules on this complicated contest… <- British humor

CJ’s Honourable Mention

My honourable mention this month very easy innitially, then hard…. then easy again. While this was not my original Honerable Mention, which I did not include because it was disqualified for being edited on a naked month, this is still a very incredible shot to take.

Taken by our very  own CaptainJaneway74656, this shot is simply perfect.

We have the silhouette of Crusader peaking behind the moon of Celin, which itself is being cast in the shadow of Stanton as she beams light that flares the cameras lens. Which also captures a Carrack hooning it across the black either being attacked or protected by the cover fire of a Ares Inferno while SPK can be seen out of the port windows.

This screenshot told me a story when i looked at it… damn. Well done Janeway!

The Results!

3rd Place Winner

DeathsThorn – Week 4 Entry

This submission reminds me of the time i first stepped foot in Grim Hex and just looking around, half thinking “omg this is soo f**kin cool” and the other half thinking ” I hope if im reinkarnated centeries from now, I end up in a place like this!”

2nd Place Winner

Xenopotamus Week 1 entry

I remember the first time this ship came into the game. With the pure organic trasformation, lighting and sounds it makes as it shifts from one form to another was simply nothing, like we’d seen before.

It makes this ship magestic in that sense…. until they make more.

1st Place Winner

xADIEx Week 4 entry

One of the coolest things you can do in SC when you realise everything is phyisicalised and not staged or a magic loading screen, is to perform a group Quantum Jump. What happens if you mix a ship with a different type of Quantum Drive tech. What happens if you have multiple different Quantum Drive tech all in the same jump?

Well thats what you’re looking at here… and boy, it is b.e.a.u.t.i.f.u.l.

Well done Adie

CONGRATULATIONS WINNERS

Congrats to the winners of January, please get in touch with Corbin_Jones on the Discord asap and well done to all that submitted a screenshot but don’t despair, your chances of winning in the new year is now!

Submissions for February are still ongoing, and March is but a few days away!

So check out the rules on the Screenshot channel and get snapping.

Also, if you want to be part of the judging panel for any month of 2023, then please get in touch with Corbin_Jones, PazCoffee, VIXEN or Cobra in the Discord. But just a little side note on this….

This competetion is ran in a very fun and engaging way that is both fun for the snappers (you) and the panel judges, however, if a judge fails to attend a panel session and give votes, it can get very hectic getting the votes and delay the finals like this…. So if you choose to become a judge for a month, please know that you are making a commitment to turn up each time, not just for the panel, but mostly for the community at large!

May the screenshotting gods of the Verse be with you!
